Hi my name is Clare and I design and make all the dolls for Bloss & Betty here in my home studio in the Kent countryside.

 

I have a fashion background having studied at LCF and then went on to work in fashion design and buying before moving to fashion HR, recruiting all the creative/design roles for Arcadia Head Office.

 

After having my first child Blossom, I decided commuting to London wasn’t an option for me anymore and I went to work in Bridal alterations which made me realise how much I had missed sewing and design. I think everything I’ve done to date has led me to create my brand and keep fashion an important part of my doll designs.

 

Bloss & Betty was born when I was looking for a fashion inspired doll for Blossoms 1st birthday, and I couldn’t find anything unique or special enough. I wanted something she could treasure and would be personal to her, not just another toy that would be given away in a couple of months after she had outgrown it. That's when I decided to make her own personal doll...the original Blossom doll! 

 

Blossom was born with a strawberry birthmark on her forehead which in time has already started to disappear but I wanted to make a doll just like her and show how special it is to be different and it only makes her more unique! She also loves our little black cat Bow so I made her a 'crazy cat' outfit... (which actually describes her personality very well too!) 

 

I hope one day she will pass this doll onto another little person and have the story behind the doll to go with it.
